CHRISTMAS TREE: Fire Marshal Offers Safety Tips | News

The State Fire Marshal and local Christmas tree growers want to make sure you keep your Christmas tree fresh this holiday season.
Gary Arman with Walnut Ridge Farm in Indianola says you should always have water sitting in you tree’s holder.
Fire crews showed just how important that is Monday morning. They had one tree that had been watered daily, and another that had not been watered for nearly three weeks in separate rooms with furniture.
The un-watered tree went up in flames immediately, but it was a different story in the room with the watered tree.
“It was the chair that actually burned in here, the tree would not burn, so you can see the struggle they had in trying to get that tree to light,” says State Fire Marshal Ray Reynolds.
Reynolds says November, December and January are the months where the most fires are put out across the state.
