POLICE RESPONSE: Record Numbers | Crime
The Carlisle Police Department responded to a 20 percent increase in calls for service in 2012 from the previous year.
Carlisle police responded to 14,175 calls making it a record year. That’s up from 5,554 in 2010.
The Indianola Record reports that emergency calls made up the majority of responses with 5,372. Calls for public assistance totaled 4,896 and traffic stops 3,106.
More than 750 of the 3,106 traffic stops last year were for speeding; 117 were for crashes.
Drug investigations were down about 30 percent in 2012 from 2011.
